During the War between the States J. C. Burch gallantly served his country in Company C, 19th Texas Cavalry, Parson's Brigade. He was born in Alabama November 11, 1833. He was married July 11, 1855. He was a faithful member of Plainview Camp, No. 1548, U. C. V. His death occurred at Larkin, Fla., January 1, 1916; and his remains were brought to Plainview, Tex., where he had formerly lived, for interment beside his wife, who died some years previous. He was a Christian gentleman, a member of the Methodist Church, and was highly respected by all who knew him. He had held positions of trust in Hale County, Tex.
