Moat

Obituary of Orville J. Moat, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Orville J. Moat was an honored member of Camp No. 171, U. C. V., District of Columbia, for many years. He died September 17, 1915, in the city of Philadelphia, leaving a sorrowing widow, Mrs. Ella B. Moat, now residing in Baltimore, who was Treasurer of the Arlington Memorial Fund of the Robert E. Lee Chapter, U. D. C., of the District of Columbia, for a long while.

Comrade Moat was a member of Company B, 4th Tennessee Cavalry, C. S. A., and took part in all of the great battles fought in Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolinas. He had been appointed on the general staff of the lieutenant general commanding Forrest's Cavalry Corps at the late Reunion at Richmond, Va. with the rank of Colonel and A. D. C.
