Daniel Oppenheimer was born in Burgkunstadt, Bavaria, November 22, 1836, and died in San Antonio, Tex., December 7, 1915, at the age of seventy-nine years. Comrade Oppenheimer enlisted as a private in Company I, 10th Texas Cavalry, at Rusk, Tex., in 1861 and was promoted to first lieutenant of his company at Corinth in May, 1862. This company served the greater part of the war in the Tennessee Army in Ector's Texas Brigade. Mr. Oppenheimer was well known throughout the brigade in which he served. [Tribute by J. A.
